Timber Framers Guild Forums Tools Tool Forum Miller Falls Boring Machines, modern equivalent?

So far I've gotten one book on Timber Framing. I've learned a lot from it though I wasn't impressed with its explanation of tools. One of the tools mentioned was a Miller Falls Boring Machine. This came to be highly recommended and is considered highly desirable both to collect and to work with. Since the company no longer makes them, the supply of machines that are left dwindles each year. Probably even more so if people who are in possession of them don't know what they have. Does any company make a modern equivalent of these machines? I'm not taking about getting the right electric drill with the right bit and an overpriced guide. I'm talking about hand powered.

There are sources of Miller Falls boring machines, even here in this forum.

There was someone in the guild who was trying to reproduce a "new" Miller Falls machine but I haven't seen or talked to him for a few years.

At the time I saw his prototype it was around $1000 to make it, then. I don't know if he ever continued with the idea or not.

As of right now, I don't know of any "company" trying to make them.
