Greetings all. Having moved from Maine, where finding a solid supply of EWP was never a challenge, to Cincinnati, I am having a difficult time finding suppliers of anything but western cedar and redwood. I m looking for 8x8, and 8x10 material in 12-16 foot lengths for small projects. Anyone working within a few hundred miles of here have a good source? Thanks all.

Have you looked in the resource guide at the timber framers business council site?
There could be timber suppliers listed there.

Good luck with your search.

Just a few directions

1. Peebles, oh area up rt 50 has several sawmills that might help you out.

2. In KY they saw white oak for barrels at several sawmills. Red oak just sits and this is where my frame subcontractor sourced the wood for my place 7 years ago. I'm thinking it was .70-.80/bf for gorgeous boxed heart beams as long as he wanted...

3. A ton of smaller Amish sawmill operators who work cheap and usually quite good can be found in your area and more headed east on rt 50. Biggest pain is loading at their yard. Treat them well and they will take good care of you.

4. There are some salvage guys that sell timbers from historic structures. Closest one I know is in Lancaster, oh. I might still have his info, just not offhand.
