Should Roy be cannonized . I wonder how many people were inspired by the guy. I'd watch an episode onPBS and go out and start a new project.

In alt.rec.woodworking he is often referred to as "Saint Roy of Underhill". I often wish I'd had access to his show.

All I ever get to see on my TV is nail guns and 'wonder wood' (MDF). :rolleyes:

Just to point at a bit of history. Roy was here in Washington during the annual folk life festival on the national mall. That year Rudy Christian was our TFG flagbearer. Net out, the showcased scribe rule technique became a segment on Roy's show. A good time was had by all. If you look in the right places you can even find some pictures.

A few years back, I was at Highland Hardware in Atlanta for their annual spring sale. I was totally engrossed in picking out a Gransfors broad axe and didn't notice someone walk up next to me.

"Well, with Mother's Day just around the corner..."

I look over and Roy is standing there holding the biggest axe in the place. He was there to give demonstrations on traditional tools and methods.

I still laugh when I think of that.

Do I hear a celebrity Death match coming on?

I accidental flip onto pbs the other day and low and behold Sir Roy was hacking away on something. My youngest daughter was with me and I explained who he was and judging by his shortness of breath I guessed he'd be bleeding soon and we watched the rest of the show (no blood). My daughter would have happily watched another episode had it been on , and started talking about a project she,d like to start. He da man !

Roy is the man!
