Just wondering what some of th lower $ mortisers are like? I am no production shop but sometimes my boring machine is just a bit too slow for some tasks

Sure. Any brand. I dunno who even makes them
But will look @ the Makita. And try out my new 16" circ saw too this weekend.

wow at about $1400 it is a bit more than I thought!
Though the current exchange rate is making it more possible.

Our Home Depot had a mortisor and a beam saw for sale...Don't remember what the price was....Seems like it was close to what we had paid online

i think that makita is a good machine and I have seen used ones on e-bay for less than half price. Timing is always the key with e-bay though.
