I've seen discussion on the stainless straps that are set in the foundation and are intended to go up into a post and have a cross bolt. How is the slot made in the post? Is it augered? Or chainsawed? Where are these straps sold?

No, I was referring to the straps that are set in the concrete and go up into the posts.

If you mean a knife plate, they are custom fabricated and the slot in the timber is cut with a chainsaw plunge or a slot mortiser.

What is your preferred concealed post foot connection with uplift and/or thrust to withstand?

AS we have done on many projects a butt hinge welded shut after erection seems to satisfy any design anti-lift or movement factors. If not set up from the floor level on piers then some bitchithane between the upper half of the hinge and the post bottom defeats moisture wicking. If the hinges are set in the concrete and lagged to the post bottom they can be used in raising the bent. Kinda requires some very careful measuring and placement efforts. But isn't that what the TF is famous for ?
