Welcome Dave. Sounds like an exciting project. A couple of suggestions for you. I would definitely draft some scaled drawings for critical dimensions that you could work off of. Drawing before building in my opinion is most crucial. I am assuming you are square ruling the frame. As far as the braces go, know how many you need and cut them all at once to the same dimension. You will have to decide how long of a nose you will want on your bracing and your timber dimensions and how much you are working under nominal can dictate that for you. This is an advantage of the square rule. You can do this because, the braces can all be the same length and the housings for them will be different for instance on the tiebeam and post. I would also lay-out all of your braces to the outside which makes for easier cutting.
