Hi guys, I am new to the forum but not to P&B buildings. My uncle and I dismantled a 1800's 4,000 sqft. barn in Central Indiana three years ago. The owners were going to raze it to make way for a "COMPLEX" the thought!!! We bought the whole place for $4,000 and had to have it removed in a month. We rented a truck mounted crane, a mobile platform, and a gas gen. set and had two LARGE electric drills. We hired a Amish man localy that numbered all the timbers and drew a sketch of there placement. We drilled all the pegs and stacked the timbers on a old flat bed trailor we found. We covered it witha large tarp and pulled it into a large barn we have with our old '69 semi-tractor. We sold the old exterior and we made all the money back! The roof was leaking and destroyed at the NE corner so two timbers are missing in the loft. We used jack hammers to break up the feild stone foundation and loaded the stones on pallets and took that also. I want to assemble it here in New England where it belongs as a timber frame HOUSE. Useing the feild stone for a fireplace on all three levels! I bought Steve Chappell's book and have read it. Now I am looking for good property in NE.
