I think you are referring to the post between the tie and rafter and not the added post(s) below the tie. I would say yes to your scenario. However, with posts under the tie the truss is no longer a truss and the king post would likely be unnecessary. My point was that I think it is good to identify tension members by name to avoid engineering errors by vernacular engineers(?). The name king post has been used for hundreds of years so I would not presume to try to get everyone to change the name. Let's just make sure new framers understand the forces occuring in collar ties, king posts and queen posts.
I see lots of words in the forum which are not in the encyclopedia yet. I hope more people get involved and enter words like cheek, soulace brace, scups, "setback tenon" or "boxing the tenon", and peeking mortise. I used to call the short, cut-off pieces of pegs "peglets"!
