Just had’ta share…

Started to watch Woodwright’s Shop the year it came on…

I guess in what were still my formative years, it has much to do with who I am and what I ended up doing, and influences me still.

Though I like to believe I reach for whatever is going to be the most efficient way to achievements end. That is of course heavily influenced by the skills I chose to build.

I’m much more likely to pick up series of axes to smack out a tenon in clear strait grain than I am to do a drop cut.

Anyway I hadn’t seen it since the mid 90’s when NHPTV dropped it, and until now I never thought to look online…

This is defiantly the right episode to catch after a long hiatus, it’s like a thought provoking recap and a laugh-fest all rolled into one –

I remember Mr. Roy Underhill form my younger days too. Watching him on the weekends. It's good to see it all again. Amazing skill how he did that particular episode; how he linked it all together.

Spliting wood is one of my favorite things to do. This time of year it's how I start each morning: riving oak, ash, beech or maple for the woodstove. He's right about seeing through the piece you're splitting.

Roy rocks.

I never had the chance to watch the Roy Underhill much. I should now, on line.

He even had a number of fine sounding books for the book list.

I have one of this guys books but the video revealed a whole new perspective on the character of Roy Underhill. Is he the Click and Clack of the woodworking world.

Roy is a bit like the Click and Clack of woodworking, I'd say. But his tangents are usually highly relevant.

A few years ago, my wife sat down w/ me while I watched the Woodwright's Shop. She was immediatley aware of his frentic pace...he sweats like he's in a triathalon, trying to fit it all in in 30 minutes. I guess that's his enthusiasm.

Who here has that tagline... "there's a thin line between hobby and mental illness?"...(frwinks?). Roy walks the line and shows no signs of slowing down. Thankfully

Am I that old that memory in others has vanished. It wasn't that long ago the many of the guild gathered on the national mall in Washington (DC not MA) and "performed" for an episode of the woodwrights shop being taped. Yes, by the same Roy. We had a great time and Rudy (amongst others) got some great exposure. All this in sync with the annual Smithsonian summer festival.

Thanks for sharing. I've been collecting his books for a while now, (only two so far,, but ?) And never seen his show.
That was a blast! His enthusiasm I'll watch over and over again in hopes that some of it wears off on little old me!
