I just purchased my first timber framed house, built 1991. 1. There are gaps in between the panels and the frame. Should I bother filling them in, if with what? 2. Is there a special type of anchor system that I should use to mount heavy objects to the panels (which are OSB). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

What size are these gaps btwn the outerface of the posts and the inner face of the OSB ?
Kinda sounds like they were left for the insertion of wallboard which is common practice.

On question #1, I'm not sure I understand. How big of a gap are you seeing? 1/8" 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" greater? Is the gap behind the post or right next to the post? (A picture would tell a thousand words here)

On question #2, if you're screwing into OSB, that's a lot better than just drywall which would be normal on a stickframe interior. I would think that using construction screws would do the job pretty well.

OSB is pretty soft in the presence of any moisture. A #8 or #10 screw can be pulled out with your thumb and forefinger. Solution, use molly's approprieate to the weight being held up on the wall.
