Anyone know where I could get the brackets at the bottom of the posts? I'd guess they have a rod going into a cement footer and not connected to the paver patio.

those look custom. talk to a local steel shop.

Yeah, I have a friend who could probably make them but I'm not sure what the best way to design them would be. Just a simple bracket that has a rod going into the cement and screws/nails holding it onto the post? Running a rod up into the post would be hard for the TF raising.

do you need hold down for uplift?

rod into post works pretty well. you can use a timber barrel style (like the timber lynx) and run the rod into epoxy in the masonry.

if you want to screw / nail it - you'll need something coming up the sides, or you'll need a knife plate design.

bmike has a good point. if you're not concerned with uplift one pretty solution that would keep the feet of the posts up off of any water on the ground is to scribe fit the posts to boulders. i'll post a picture when i get a moment to upload
