I was wondering if anyone has looked into or used Durisol Blocks as an enclosure system. Info at http://www.durisolbuild.com/default.html In theory one could use the blocks as a wall system and then timber frame a second floor and roof truss system, or just use them purely as an enclosure on a traditional frame. I am considering them as an alternative to strawbale becuase they would go up fast, and would avoid some of the issues of strawbale such as moisture and bank loan approval etc. The down side is the price. A 12 inch thick wall run at $6.50 a square foot plus the cost of rebar and concrete. (12 foot wall with concrete should approach R-40 insulation value) Any thoughts on the idea would be appreciated.

As an additional note: These are the blocks used in the zero energy house in the last issue of Fine Home Building (March 2006 No. 117 (The 25th anniversary issue)). As I said in the first post, anybody's input or thoughts would be great to hear. Thanks
