In addition to those mentioned. I like Steve Chappell's book "A Timber Framers Workshop". I would highly recommend you take a typical 5-6 day timberframe class. Most are held from April to June, though there are sometimes ones later in the season. Sign up as early as possible. I don't know who's holding one in the West this year, but I know of plenty in the East and some in the midwest. If anyone knows of a western class, chime in.
