Just be extra careful working with dead wood, it's easy to barber chair.
And my experience splitting dead chestnut into rails is sometimes you walk the wedges pretty much as usual and sometimes it pops violently when you think the first or second wedge is only half driven. Though your trees aren't nearly as dead as blight killed chestnut.
