thanks Tim, yes my concern was with the light clay wall not being able to breathe both ways because of the polyiso. My next choice is cellulose and earth plaster interior.

The 1' thermal wall is an interior wall, dividing main living room and bedroom area of the house (khaki colored wall in the pic below).


I've gone from using granite stone, water filled pvc storage tubes to finally settling on clay/shavings/straw filled wall....joys of organic building

Oh wow! I like the idea. I am assuming that the light clay wall is going to get some sun exposure or is next to a wood stove? Please let me know how it works when you have it all up and running.

thanks and yes, the house is passive solar and the entire cruck prow wall you see in the foreground is getting direct glazed with solar heat gain tuned/Heat Mirror IGU's...really funky glass that should work nicely with the thermal wall
We also have a woodstove in the same room, which I'm hoping will only be used on those -40deg C days we get once or twice a year.. lol
