No there are no braces on the queen posts. The frame is hewn and I have no idea of the age. I am still trying to find out if this barn was built in it's current location or if it was moved. These posts are between the tie beam and the rafter. There are four bents and all of them have this same anomaly. I will try to get photos and post them.
