Timber Framers Guild Forums General Off Topic safety equipment upgrade

Hello Timber Framers!
I am about to purchase new safety equipment, like harnesses, lanyards, and hardhats. Does anyone have any recommendations of manufacturers or brands? I only do five or six frames a year so I don't plan on wearing them every day, but I guess I would pay more for comfort and durability. Any thoughts are welcome, thanks, Luke Thompson

I've purchased about five DBI Sala harnesses for myself and crew outfitting. All were cross over harnesses with a belt, hitch points on back, breast and hips, that provide variety of work positioning for steep roofs, up to 15/12 slope. Most hardware, rope grabs, carabiners etc., is by Petzl. I'm satisfied.

Before buying anything, I would re-examine the current regulations and my work practices and needs and start listing out what I have to do to keep in compliance and everyone safe into the future. Sometimes I have needed to repudiate myself and start fresh.

I think here in canada, they have dates. and only good for 4 years after purchase. I am about 3 years beyond my expiry. hope I don't get busted. it's all seldom used. I have north system stuff. comes in a slick bag. Love it all. Don't get 50' ropes. 25 is all you need I'll bet!
