I wouldn't go overboard. If you have access to some antique ones, I would try to copy those fairly closely. I like a nice gentle sweep along the length of the back. I have a twin pair of PS&Ws that are a real joy to use. My broad-axe is a single bevel, about 8" long. I don't think you would want one any bigger than that.
