Yes, I just double checked my "Log Span Tables", and the figure I posted is the value for dry wood. That seemed a bit light; someone told me years ago the weight of fresh cut pine was about 40 lb/ft³.
I found another website (nothing to do with wood design values, they sell trees) that gives the weight as 36 lb/ft³.
Does anyone know of a web page or table on the Internet that lists the density of various species of wood at different moisture contents? I'm surprised at how difficult it is to find this information.
