Hello All!

I'm working on a High Posted Cape design using Principal rafters and purlins. I'm trying to determine what would be the best joint to use where the top plate, post, and rafter come together. Any thoughts on this? The only thing I can think of would be a birds mouth in the top of the post and mortice and tennon the top plate into the sides of the post...although I would like to have a continuous top plate. Thanks in advance.
Oh...the timber sizes for Post, top plate, and rafter are 8x10.
