I would like to "trim" out the windows and doors for an upcoming project with 6x6 timbers.

The wall system is S.I.P.

I would like the 6x6 timbers to outline the windows and doors and thereby acting as the trim.

Has anyone developed a system for doing so?

We primarily use Andersen windows and have found that by making the R.O. in the SIP overlap the frame by an inch you can get the frame to effectively trim out the window. Look closely at the window manufacturer's head, jamb, and sill details to understand the relationship between their R.O. and their "unit dimension" and then see if you can get a handle on the window frame cofiguration and sizes. Most manufacturers provide scaled details in their catalogs. Good luck, if you pull it off it can look really sharp!

Thank you for the information Paul.

I am going to detail it out in the coming week.

I would like to post the detail or e-mail you personally and get your feedback if you would.
