I am about to begin my first of two timber frame projects. I will saw the lumber to dimension on a portable band-saw mill. It seems to me that if I smooth them all with a hand plane after the mill, it would take a looong time. Is there a thickness planer out there that can take timberframe-sized pieces or should I plan to hand-plane everything? What's the norm, any recommendations?

Is there such a thing as a boring jig to hold a hand-drill in position for drilling out mortices?
