You'll have to educate them if you want the shed. Ask them what information do they need in order to approve your shed.
Then we'll help you find it and you can show it to them that this style shed is stronger than a stick built one.
If they can't see that a 8x8 is stronger than a 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" stud then you need to prove it to them with technical data.

Jim. That is very tempting, but the inspectors at the politburo run things with an iron fist and trying to reason with them is futile. Arguing with them puts your on their s--t list. I wanted to put in a tankless hotwater heater and they will not allow it because 25 years ago when they first came out there were not enough technicians. They refused to hear any request for a variance or change to the ordinances. I made the mistake of keeping after them for a building permit to remodel the kitchen and bath The result has been four failed inspections on extremely minor nitpicky stuff.
