Hi,

Just my two cents: support our own! Timberwolf has a sale on, apparently for this month, with the 16" for $595. I just received their excelled catalog and a sale flier today.
All the best,

Zach

Are the base conversion kits still available for these? Any idea who sells them? We don't have the bigMak on the shelf here in the UK but I keep wondering about getting one, the only thing is that the base looks so poor.

Greetings...

About 6 months ago I looked into the base upgrade. One was done for the old (brown) version, but not currently planned for the new (blue) version. After some soul searching, I opted for a magnesium Big Foot 10". They also now make a larger version...14" I believe.

After using the newer 16" Makita for almost 2 years now, we really like it, especially with the carbide blade. However, the base is total crap. It's a major design flaw, and as stated above, no one is currently making an after-market base for this saw. I'm begging you, someone's got to design and manufacture this base plate! I'd much rather spend $200-300 on a new base than fork over the cash for a major saw upgrade, like a Mafell. Another place to check saw prices is at Baileys.com.

Priced the newest Makita 16" today at the local Hardware Store... $1195.00 CDN. Doesn't matter what the exchange rate is, that's a lot of price on that thing...
