Well this may sound like a silly question but how do you all sharpen the blade on a Stanley #10? I got one that is obviously used and the blade is slightly rounded....center of blade sticks out from the corners almost 1/8 inch. Someone who did not know what they were doing or is there wisdom to this shape? I would assume that to use it for tenon cuts you would want it perfectly square. thanks Bob
I agree 1/8 is a bit much, I'd shoot for getting about 90% of the blade back to a nice straight line. My 10-1/4 is perfectly straight and I do need to be careful or the corners will dig in a bit more than I want.
An 1/8" seems a bit much. Most of my planes including the #10 and my chisels have a slight radius to the cutting edge ( 1/16 or less from center to edge). I like the slight scalloped finish they leave and it keeps the corners from digging in. If you were making cabinets I don't think it would be Ideal.
