Just bought an old boring machine over the weekend. No name on it. Its got some slight damage, but is quite functional. Paid $80 for it at auction. I think I did pretty good...

Anyways, now I need the 1.5" and 2" bits for it. Takes a 1/2" chuck. Anyone have any large self starting bits for sale? Or know where to look?

I'm guessing a length of 12 to 15" would fit it nicely.

Cheers,
Greg

Greg:

One possibility is watch for old T-Handle augers on ebay. They come up frequently, and go for relatively cheap. You may have to use a hacksaw to cut the top off, depending on what kind of end the bit has, and what kind of chuck your boring machine has. You will also need to get an auger bit file, if you don't already own one. Even if you find a sharp one (highly doubtful), it will still need to be touched up now and then. Here\'s one source for $10.

Good luck! CB.
