Timber Frame to Greece - 11/12/04 08:15 PM

A friend of mine is interested in building a timber frame in Greece, and he would like to know which companies in the US or Canada are involved with prefabricating and shipping to overseas locations.

What about European firms in the UK, France, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic & italy ? Last time I checked they were all a lot closer than any in NA.

I don't know of any off hand, but if you go to the Resource Guide (under Publications on the main Guild page), you should be able to find some timber framing companies that would be interested by looking for ones with an international target region.

Another consideration is whether or not the wood is sterilized or not. Some countries don't let wood into their borders unless it has paperwork showing that the wood has be sterilized in a dry kiln to kill all possible internal insects.
I think Emmett has the right idea, get it over there and put it up over there.
The UK has lots of timber framing companies that could do the job. Try posting the same inquire at the Carpenter Fellowship web site. I posted a link under the thread about the guy looking for work in the UK.
Good luck.
