Timbers for Sale?

Timbers for Sale? - 09/01/09 01:31 AM

Hello,
I'm new to the forum. Would it be ok to post a "for sale" listing for a lot of timbers that I have to sell? If so, what is the most appropriate TFG forum for this? This is a personal (non-commerical) offer. I'm also planning on posting on woodweb.com
Regards,
Dan

Dan:
It would probably be best if you ask the moderator directly, but I would think either in "Off topic" or just "General Forum Question"......

Entirely appropriate, since it's a one-time, non commercial offer.

Ok so here they are... Short story - My friend and I milled these for a DIY Timberframe house that I never got around to building. They are now in the back yard of my lesser (stick framed) house that is under construction. I would love to see them put to good use.

Description:
Lot of Bandsaw Milled Timbers - Predominantly (85%)Red Oak
Approximately (195) timbers total (20)8x8,(30)6x8,(50)6x6,(15)4x6
Ranging in length from 18' to 10'.
Approximately (50)3x6" x 8-foot and (30)3x<6"x 8'
I'd estimate that approximately 85% of the beams are straight. They have been kept dry covered with metal roofing and have air dried for approxiimately 10 years! They have developed a nice patina and are in good condition. I recently measured the moisture content in 3 beams at 12% with a mini ligno meter.

Located in Connecticut.
6,500 board feet total $1.50 bd-ft or best offer.
