metal roof for barn

metal roof for barn - 11/20/06 05:00 PM

Could someone give me an idea of the cost of having a new metal roof put on a barn?
An average cost for having it done is fine per sq. Dayton Ohio location. The barn is a old forebay or bank barn.
I don't like heights myself.
Thanks in advance

Sorry I don't have an answer. I'm just wondering if the barn has an old slate roof on it and if you want to get rid of the slate.

Thanks,
Thomas

We had our roof installed for ~$5.50/sqr.ft. (Connecticut prices). It's a heavy guage hemlock green seamless design, IIRC galvanized was a little cheaper.
They brought a large coil of flat steel, a
forming machine and charged by the linear foot.

How thick is a short board???

What kind of metal? Standing seam? Ribbed? Painted? Galvanized? Will the old roof need to be stripped? Disposal fees? How high is the job?

Any "features" such as dormers or valleys will add to the cost significantly.

Around NH something like $300 per Square might be ballpark for a simple installation. But it could vary widely.

You ought to get local estimates and they will reflect local styles, materials, and costs. Should be easy to do if you ask around in your area.
