Log Cabin - 01/13/01 12:31 PM

Is there anyone who can produce a log cabin suitable for permanent domestic occupation in the UK.Our buildings have to conform with certain Building Regulations, principally to avoid the effects of driving horizontal rain and damp, relatively warm winters.

Yes,

John Ormiston near Oban in Scotland can and has built several log cabins.

There was an article in "Reforesting Scotland" a number of years ago featuring his work and I shall try and find this to see if there are any contact details.

Sorry it's taken so long to notice this one, but YES there are some very skilled log-builders in the UK. Britain's foremost logbuilder is a fellow called Dan Franklin...and though he is based in Sommerset he works in Scotland a great deal as well. Dan can be reached as follows:

Dan Franklin

E-Mail: FranklinHH@aol.com

...or, if you're looking for something in the North of England or Scotland, you're welcome to talk to us here at Carpenter Oak & Woodland in Scotland...where I'm pleased to say that we have several skilled log builders on our crew who would just love to build a log cabin for you.

We can be reached at:

Carpenter Oak & Woodland Co LTD
The Framing Yard
Loch of Lintrathen
Kirriemuir, Angus

Tel: 01575 560 393

Good luck!

For finding log builders worldwide I can recommend the International Log Builders Association (used to be the CLBA). Their website is www.logassociation.org
Based in British Columbia, Canada, but they have members throughout the world.

Best of luck
