What size and llength lifting straps? - 01/03/08 07:20 PM

I need some Nylon lifting straps (aka tow straps), most immediatly for lifting timbers with my fork truck onto a portable saw mill for remilling. I've seen 2 inch, 3 inch, and 4 inch. Should I go 2 or 3 inch? I want to also be able to use them to lift bents with the crane eventually. How long should I get? 20ft? 30ft? Where's the best place to buy? Thanks, Brad

The wider they are, the less they'll cut into the corners of your timbers, at least softwood. We have 2 sets of 4" x 14' "eye-eye" slings that we use with a crane on site. We also have a big bin of 2" "endless" slings of various lengths that come with to raisings. You just never know what you're goign to need.

I custom order my slings from Hunter Slings:
