I have an early slick its all metal with a metal ball on top, it has some markings but no name. I can't figure out how to post a picture here so email me I I will send it to you I was told it from 1840

Is it forged? Does it have a single bevel cutting edge? What width, length?

This tool may also have been used for splitting off radially sawn clapboards from their log core.

I have a D handled slick, and I have been told that is what it was used for. I'll probably not use it much, but it was a beautifully hand forged piece, so it's now in the collection.
