Makita sander

I sometimes use the Makita wheel-brush sander but am disappointed at the poor performance of the stock abrasive wheel. Several passes to erase a pencil line? Come on. Has anybody used the more aggressive wheels Makita offers as an accessory? How do they work. Thanks

Ray,

We use this tool a lot but not to remove wood or pencil lines -- only to remove dirt. We work with reclaimed timbers a lot where we cant sand or plane or we lose the original patina which is not an option. I don't consider this an abrasive tool -- simply for cleaning.

What grit are you using Gabel? The stock 100 or the optional 80. My machine won't remove rust stains from the forklift or plain dirt without really leaning into it for a length of time. Then you're left with the burnished look.

We have all of them. I agree, it's not good on stains, just surface dirt like you get on old timbers.
