Some of you might remember this toolchest from a late 80's FWW backcover...

The workmanship in Mr Studley's box is simply beyond amazing -

Can't seem to make the embed code work here, though some have done so successfully. Another forum Gremlin? Anybody had similar problems? Can someone else embed this? It really should not be missed.

Lost Art Press will be doing a book on him.

And there's a newer set of photos of his workbench:

I have made a happy discovery by clicking links from the Studley page, several clicks distant I came to a video series by Windsor chairmaker Curtis Buchanan.

Currently at 29 episodes, I have randomly viewed several videos in this series and I believe this offering is utterly generous, substantial and inspiring.

So this is my first time seeing this. Is it in the hands of a private owner now? How did the owner come to acquire it? I'm guessing he doesn't use the tools?

I wonder how well the nickel plating on the vice works? How well does then nickel keep corrosion at bay?

Hello,

Thanks to Roger Nair for tracking this interesting series down and pointing it out. This is a way of working in harmony with the wood instead of fighting to make it conform, (with the exception of a little artificial drying).

Greetings,
