Folders in Autocad - 01/03/05 06:21 PM

Hello,
I am a self taught AutoCad user currently using 2002 and have a guestion reguarding layers. Is there a way to have folders in the layers control panel? Don't know if there is a lisp for this or perhaps another way. Sure would make my life easier.
Thanks for the help,
Brice

The simpliest way I have found, without doing anything complicated, is to name the layers in a system that can be filtered using layer filtering.

That way, when the layer control panel is brought up, I can look at only the layers I want to, assuming I named them by some logical system.

The down side is, besides the naming scheme, all of the layers are still listed in the pull-down layer menu.

I'm using acad2002.

The Layer Properties Manager (the layer dialog box that comes up with the layer command) allows you to create layer filters. A filter can include layer name filtering with wildcards, as well as specific on/off, freeze/thaw, lock/unlock combinations. You can also filter by color, lineweight and other properties. When using the filter dialog box be sure to create a name and pick the "Add" button to save your filter. If you select the "Apply to Object Properties toolbar" option then the filter will also limit your layer pull down list.

Thanks to both of you. Will start playing with filters. It will help.
