Bug in Sketchup version 8

Bug in Sketchup version 8 - 09/06/10 01:23 PM

Sketchup version 8 was released last week. There are some cool new features and performance enhancements, but there's also a new bug that will effect those of you who use the TF Rubies.

When creating shop drawings, I use feature called "raytest" to project the center of the peg holes from the side of the tenon to the side of the mortise. That feature is now broken, and the peg hole markings end up completely wrong.

I'll be looking into a work-around, but until then, or until Google releases a fix, don't use SU8 with the TF Rubies. If you install sketchup 8, your old version of sketchup will be left intact on your system, so you can use either one.

Google released a maintenance fix for Sketchup on Wednesday that fixes this bug. While I have not done a thorough test to make sure nothing new was broken with this release, I did test the major features, and everything seems to be working fine. So if you've been holding off on the upgrade, I'd say go ahead. Your old version 7 will not be overwritten, by the way, so you can always go back to it. Let me know if you have any problems with the TF Rubies and Sketchup version 8. CB.

Does everything still seem to be running smooth for you with Version 8? I think I will upgrade mine but just wanted to double check in case something new came up.
Thanks.

Yes, all is well with SU8 since the maintenance release. CB.
