Raw SIPS - 03/25/09 03:20 PM

Does anyone know of any companies/suppliers/etc that sell 'Raw' SIPS? I did a search on the forum with no previous conversations found...I have not discovered too terribly much searching online either...I suspect that 'raw' isnt a keyword manufacturers are using, and am not sure what term I should be looking for.

thanks for any info anyone can provide!

What do you mean by raw? Blank panels of a certain size?

Are we talking straw panels? osb / foam panels?

Any SIP manufacturer should be able to do this.
Find the most reputable company closest to you to save on shipping.
Most will have them with OSB / OSB or maybe OSB gyp board.
For my money I'd just get the OSB / OSB and space them off the frame whatever thickness your finish materials are.

SIP guys might not be so "eager" to sell just the cores whistle...
try this link for EPS manufacturers, might get lucky and find one in your backyard... I found one 20min away from my office who's quote was about $15K less than SIPS cool

I think one of the terms commonly floated is Buns...

Though I don't think that will help in a web search, try foam plastics.

And I've found EPS panel companies happy to supply just foam, even custom orders, say snaf X 20 ½ " for wrap & strap, or sizes and thicknesses intended to be placed under slabs.

And I'll ditto Mike on the double chips and the packing.

Are you looking for foam, or blank panels?

Justin:

Extreme Panel (near you) will probably sell you blank panels. Consider the waste issue, though. When you cut your own EPS panels on site, you get a LOT of little styrofoam beads everywhere. They blow all around your site, and into your neighbor's yard, and they won't degrade. And your panels scraps - what do you do with those? You'll need to burn out all the recesses for your 2x bucking and plates - STINKY! Probably not good for your health either. If you have them custom cut in the factory, all those issues are taken care of for you.
