Looking for book suggestions.

Hello all. I'm doing a re-model on my one story stick frame house, and would like to replace a 12 foot section of the major load bearing wall with 2 posts and a beam using doug fir that has been down, cut and drying for the past year on my property. Which book would you recommend from the publications at the TFG toaccomplish this. I'd like to keep the round shape of the logs and am not sure how to accomplish clean looking joints. Also, I have sections of varying diameters, and am wondering how small of diameter I should use for the beam.
