Apparently, this forum actually is for axe throwing.

I learned this today from the handy definitions under each forum header.

Notes and comments is for everything else...but can all this stuff be considered everything else? Does it mean everything else to do with timberframing, or everything else to do with life in general? Now I'm really confused!

Where do we host the next party?

How about CNC Operators forum! Nobody goes there!
Oh, right....

Well, we haven't been evicted yet, and I'm sticking around until we go out kickin' and screamin'!! Who's with me?!

I disagree.
It is actually too cool.

I disagree too, you guys. The name is too fitting. Maybe we can get an allowance from a forum rep out there. Anyone? Perhaps even change the description under the header of 'Axe Throwing'. I'm not actually sure if people who seldom stray from the upper reaches of this forum even know this light-hearted, informal yet informative exchange even takes place!! Take me, for example. TG had to drag me down here!!

I've never thrown an axe before, but I saw my uncle once throw a can of black spray paint on the cement during a temper tantrum. The can pierced and continued to spray black figure eights on his vinyl siding.

Unfortunately, I may have some attendance problems for the next few saturday nights, if the do occur. Christmas parties, family gatherings, etc.

Hey Derek, I thought of a perfect book for you. Pick up a copy of 'The boat who wouldn't float' by Farley Mowat (if they sell, or have even heard of Farley Mowat across the line). I thought it may be a good read for you as you embark on your new life as a mariner. I have read it about 15 times now, and somehow it seems to get funnier every time.

I've just added a Gransfor broadaxe to my wish list.

Cheers,
Brock

It does say: "Don't try this at home!Discussions leading up to our competition at the 2006 Western Conference." Since the 2006 Western Conference has come and gone I think the header info just hasn't caught up to us. wink

Perhaps we need it updated to say "A place to toss things around, including the occasional Axe".

Re: Oops...! - 12/13/06 10:49 PM

And a place to teach Derek about grammar..

Eg: 'To cool a header' implies something totally different than 'too cool a header'.

(Loosing and losing also imply different meanings, but we'll get to that one another time.)

Axe throwing is a great place to talk about whatever...
for one thing it's down at the bottom of the forum and for another thing the axe throwers don't use it much, so I say carry on!!!! I live out in the country and there are not many timberframers around here, so it's great for me to connect with other framers online. and it's great to write about more than timberframing, find out a bit about other framer's lives. Mess around a bit.

As moderator for this forum I get a notification email every time one of you posts something. This is of course a mixed blessing; it has been entertaining to keep up with the ramblings of the usual suspects but it spams up my inbox pretty bad wink

For the record, I have no problem with you good folks continuing to ramble and have parties in this forum; whether you talk about axes or not. I can deal with the notification emails (I'm learning about spam filters) and if anyone actually wants to talk about axes they can do it in the tool forum (kidding) or post a new topic, perhaps with the word axe in the title.

It's cool to see photos of folk (nice fish Brock) and I'm curious to know how you go about posting a photo. I could post some axethrowing pics.Any advice?

To post an image it has to be stored somewhere on the WWW, some people use image hosting sites other's store them on their personal or business webspace.

When you are posting (or editing a post), below the box for text entry is a group of buttons labeled "Instant UBB Code". Clicking the botton marked IMAGE will bring up an input box where you enter the complete web address of the photo and hit enter.

Paste this for an example if you don't have anything handy on the web:
http://www.forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12870/WO-joist-01sm_2.jpg

The dialog box inserts the image information and correct UBB code to display it automatically. UBB code is nearly identical to html only a bit more limited in scope.

Hey...Who brought this guy down here?
(Just kidding. Don't ban me.)

Thanks for your patience, Steve.

I really appreciate the space, but I didn't realise the impact that our down under ranting had on you. I do see the dilemma we have made, though; what if someone actually needs to ask about axe throwing? Us locals see the little yellow light bulb and start on the guy...oohh...that wouldn't be good! If you have any suggestions or needs from us, please let us know; maybe there's the possibility of moving this little monster to another spot if it helps...?

Ooops! I didn't consider that the "ranting" (like this post) might be annoying either.
Too bad, I guess I'll have to cease and desist posting in the spam threads. I didn't see any harm in having a bit of fun since the threads get cut anyhow. My real fun begins when those idiots make contact with me. By the time they figure out it's a lost cause they need krazy glue to hold their heads together.
That viagra spam (a.k.a. "other tems") looks soooo... tempting ...I can hardly resist ... The "Tool Forum" sure seems like an appropriate place to post, though.

Thanks for the compliments on my fishy photo. It is a North Western BC steelhead, one of a handful caught and released on my last trip of the year.

I agree with you Derek - timberframing is a lifestyle. Pictures from the people who live it - be it of timbers or... - should be welcomed in this area. It's fun, educational and often inspiring.

I'm going to a Christmas party tonite!! Yippee!! Sweet overindulgence....

Cheers,
Brock

Steve:
I would be happy to act as moderator of this forum if you would like, I come by fairly often anyways...
The only condition is that we change the description to:
"Axe throwing discussions of all kinds welcome"

The Itinerant forum has had no posts for over a year and has no moderator. It might make a good place for wandering thoughts.
