Has TTRAG (or anyone) Published Joint Details from Any Surveys?

I'm interested in the New England Barn foremost. I know of some of Jack Sobon's
self-published work on the Dutch Barn.
I'm most interested in Common Rafter systems
with continuous top plates and intermediate
continuous purlins, and how the old frames
dealt with thrust in the roof system.

Also, are there many frames which were build
with the 2nd floor as we would now (with all
the tie beams, summers, and joists in the same plane ? How did they detail those joints?

There is also a great deal of historic framing information in the back issues of Timber Framing.

If you are planning to attend the Traditional Timberframe Research and Advisory Group annual symposium March 12-14, you will meet more than a few framers with experience in the type of roof system you are studying.
