mixed scribe and square rule barns

Does any one have any insight or documentation into the incidences of mixed scribe rule and square rule framing in barns prior to the popular set date of the introduction of square rule (c. late 1820;s)? Also does anyone have the same on the spread of the use of square rule after the popular supposed date?
