Going to see an old frame tonight - 06/17/08 10:57 AM
We're going after supper to see a house that is supposedly 1814, about 20 miles from here on the Appalachee River. Supposedly it was a stage coach stop. I guess on the road between Athens and Milledgeville.
That's extremely early -- my dad was in it yesterday and from what he says it is well-framed and still straight as a string. I'll give a report and post pictures later this week. Rumors of dovetailed collars, flying plates, inboard plates, lookouts, water sawn wood, etc. My big question is whether or not it was scrbed. More later
