Auto Renewal

Auto Renewal - 05/01/09 02:15 AM

Hi. I like the idea of saving 10 bucks for auto renewal. My wish is this: An email 2-3 weeks before renewal should go out,, just in case someone needs to cancel the renewal. A chance should be available to cancel. I'm sure you've thought of this,, but can't find the info.

Thanks
dave
p.s. Emailing scantlings is also super!

Wow. Seventy five views,, less my three,, and NO-One can comment? Maybe mediator can delete this thread.

Dave,
Sorry for the delay. I don't get on the Forums as often as I'd like.
We have discussed this. Sending out extra e-mails sort of defeats the purpose, which is to save on administrative time. Until we get a better content management system our plan is to send a receipt when the card has been charged, and then if the person wants to cancel after receiving it we will issue a refund. Right now our budget constraints is keeping us from a major installation of the CMS we have been considering.
Thanks for your support, and glad you like Scantlings.

What Will said.

The ten bucks you save reflects the 10 bucks the TFG saves in operations.

Guesswork of course as to what the actual number is, but the principle is solid.

Will and Joel.
Thanks.
I just wanted to know how it was going to work. I guess in an ideal world,, part of the secratary in charge of billing would go over the list monthly,,and send reminders a month in advance that we were up for automatic renewal. Same as my virus protection.
I'm new to the guild,, and under utilize it,, but am learning tons from Mark Davidson. I understand that this is a grass roots guild,, and appreciate that fact. I also now understand that the forum sits idle for long periods,, my mistake. Sorry.

Thanks for doing what you do. You guys are un-sung heros,, and look forward to meeting you both.

Appreciate the clarification. I'm IN! Renewal is in the mail yesterday! Honest!

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

I believe that we will enable an semi-automated membership management software package in 2010, and I predict that it WILL send you a heads-up sometime before your card is processed, just in case your circumstances have drastically changed.

We haven't found a way to pay for that yet, however. And frankly, we're focussing pretty thoroughly on 2009 these days. It's important to have mid-term goals, but essential to keep the day-to-day wheels turning at speed.

Thanks. My membership I try to write off, as part of my expenses.
