I am looking for recommendations on chisels, routers, and router bits.

It looks like other than buying an old hand forged chisel that Sorby and Barr make a good quality chisel. Can anyone tell me which they think is better or if you have other recommendations.

On the router I am looking to cut housings mostly 1/2 deep on 8x8 timbers. I have been looking at the Makita and the Bosch. It looks like many guys prefer the Makita but I am looking for thoughts, preferences and things to look for.

On the router bits I am looking for a top bearing bit for cutting my housings using a template. Since they are only 1/2 inch deep I would prefer to stay short but 1/2 in shank. Any recommendations on these or other things to consider for bits used for housings?

Any help appreciated.

I like Barr over Sorby because I like socket over tang.
Also Barr is easy to deal with and stands behind his work. I recommend buying directly from him, not a middleman.
