Does anyone have a accurate date for when turned pegs for use in timber frames became popular? I'm dismantling a frame which uses both shaved and turned pegs so am guessing it was built during the transition period. Other building techniques used and the fact it is in the very rural area (even by todays standards) of Chesterfield, MA lead me to date the frame at about 1890.

Thanks,
Shaun
