wire rope -- stronger and more durable.

Daytons are a good value, but lug-alls are in a class all their own.

I've only seen Nylong straps used. They won't mark the wood. Make sure you get ones that are strong enough, ones that are rated and not just any old strap. There are many sources avaiable.

I was asking about comealongs. They come in a nylon strap format. I've already got slings.!(some!)Mine are rated way over what I'll be pulling. No prob.
Yes, Comealongs. Favorite type.
Thanks for asking Gabel!

i liked my masdam with a strap- good for hauling logs out of the bush and one man gin poles- until... was using it to pull the top off of a big poplar in some ski trail building, no success, strap is now up the tree- figure we'll come back for it with the excavator when we're building the trail bed- then return and some crazy sociopath has climbed this dangerous tree with the top dangling down and stolen my comealong out of the bush!!11 who steals tools out of the bush?

anyways, i'm now back to a cable kind. liked the masdam better. nicked the strap at one point but just cut it back and tied it onto the hook and was working again.
