I just recieved this email from a friend:

Quote:

Don Rhynhardt from Rhyno Builders has a hewn, scribed frame for sale. Its the first house built in watertown connecticut , built in 1761 according to town records. The frame is in the best shape I've ever seen with no rot, and everything straight and square. Its a 4 bent frame of oak and chestnut 26'x38' 2 story with attic space. Don needs money soon, and is 2 days away from contracting with a flooring mill.
He wants $15,000 for the frame raised on the buyers lot, he'll take less for picked up in watertown, ct. All flooring, siding and roofers are available for more money.
Call me if you know of anybody interested in the frame as I would hate to see this work of art milled into flooring.

Thanks

I recieved two pictures of the standing structure but nothing of the frame itself. I can forward them along to anyone interested.

That is a shame, or will be if it goes into flooring. That frame is older than the U. S. government, and it is not rotten.

Good one Tim!

No doubt the chestnut in that frame is valuable. Has Mr. Rhynhardt thought of putting the frame on ebay?

But I guess there's no guarantee a buyer wouldn't mill it up there too.

At any rate, I wish him well.
