Hello peers
I've been asked by an arch. if I can send our sketchup DWG file with the timbers as 3D solids.
I don't really know what that means - I'm believe this may be an autocad term? Can I do that?
Thanks,
brock

Not that I know of. Sketchup is a surface modeler. CNC machines require 3d solid modeling. But you can export SU to autocad (still as a surface model), and it works fine. Not sure why your arch wants solid. What SW is he using? CB.

SkUp can export out a DWG - but the model will not be a 'solid' (although it will look like it). Each face of a timber will come in as a 3d surface - OK for presentation - but not useful beyond that. As someone who uses HSB and AutoCad I have not yet found a way to easily convert surfaces to solids.
And - I'm pretty sure you will need the pro version to import / export to DWG.

Thanks Clark.
I'm not sure what you mean by SW?

Thanks Bmike,
I am using the pro version and export regularly, but have never had this request.
Thanks for your help,

sw = software
If DWG, AutoCAD of some flavor would be my guess.
