My son Brandon, who is a VW guy, is a member of the VW Vortex forum on-line. He came across this interesting thread and thought we all might be interested in reading about the project. I found it to be very impressive for a first-time frame, the use of reclaimed materials and the solar PV system on the roof. Check it out! http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3996345-Post-and-Beam-Garage&highlight=garageMaybe we should invite the bulders to join our group...eh? By the way, these are the stats for the VW Vortex fourm...WOW! VWVortex.com Statistics: Threads 5,026,004 Posts 65,697,063 Members 585,640 Active Members 45,136 Rooster

A lot more VWs out there than timber frames. I'm on the 2nd page but have to take a break. I have that site book marked as I am always looking for vw diesel stuff. Funny comments at certain points.

I would like to make a comparison. I think I saw pressure treated timber, if this is the case, I would compare that to putting white walls out on a Scirocco. All in all, they did a bang up job, and with butt chisels and a drill. Then he sold his GTI.

I wonder how big that tie beam is. The queens point-load that beam with no center post. CB.
