I've contacted a couple of timber framing companies and asked if they can do drawings for a structure made out of Timberlinx & Strongtie connectors. They both said they only do traditional framing. The goal being to use as little lumber that is larger than 6x6" in size. Thus reducing costs. I've read that a lot of times the posts are 8x8" and larger because of the need to cut down and make joints. A 6x6" would work structurally.
Any recommendations are appreciated. This is for picnic shelter 20x30 approximate size. located near Charlotte, NC.
I just got my basics of Timber framing book last night and while I could do the math, The amount of time it would take me would be better spent on other things.
